Aside from Simpfolio – the platform this site is built on – the below-listed projects are what I'm most proud of as a designer/devloper.
Bootleg Database
My first real attempt at a Rails application. This site grew from a need to catalog and keep track of all of the live recordings I’d collected over the years as I’d find myself downloading the same show multiple times, resulting in wasted HDD space as well as torrent ratios.
I figured it was a good excuse to really test myself and see what Rails is made of/what I was capable of building in my free time using some things I’m deeply passionate about (music, web development and pushing myself to learn/grow) as the driving force behind it all without the worry of meeting corporate standards or anything else that comes with doing something for a company.
Fabric Swatch Viewer
This tool was born from a need for a better fabric ordering process on the company’s website, and an easier way for the team that handles swatch requests to get and requests and respond to them. It is built in Adobe Flex and was my first attempt at ever using that platform.
Fabric Swatch Viewer (v. 3)
Version 3 of the Fabric Swatch Viewer is a complete reworking of the previous version to be driven completely visually since, without looking at the print version of the catalog, it was impossible to know what a given pattern looked like.
Harley Davidson 2009
My role was the backend: I was in charge of getting all of the data in that application in 8 different languages into XML format and fed properly via XSLT transforms to the application so that each of the families of bikes, individual bikes, parts and accessories were completely detailed for users to peruse.
Voelker Consulting
This was the first project I did for a friend of my dad’s when I started up my own freelance web design/development company in the summer of 2005.
I provided the graphics and CSS/HTML structure, he did all the backend the coding. Both projects for this client were done before I accepted the fact that while I can design, it’s not my strong suit.
Voelker Properties LLC
This was the second piece I did with my freelance company in the summer of 2005. Same client as Voelker Consulting but this was for his property company.
I created and provided the graphics/design and HTML/CSS structure, he all did the backend coding of the site. Apart from one margin issue between the top portion of the page and the body/content area, it would appear this CSS layout has stood the test of time and change of browsers quite well.
